Archived Post: Egan Golf World Record at PGA Event

Imagine Hitting a Golf Ball Every 5 Seconds for 12 Hours!

On Wednesday, January 27, 2010, Nigel Mangan pulled off what was almost unbelievable to the crowd gathered – he hit nearly 9,000 golf balls in 12 hours to break the Guinness World Record.  Of these 9,000 shots, 7,712 were within the prescribed “window” of 100 yards and 15 degrees either way of center and thus established the new record.  It was a narrow window in which the adjudicator from Guinness World Records gave no leeway.  His Golf Center, Golf Center team, and Piranha clubs were his advantage no doubt – but the hard work came down to his preparation and persistence.

For a guy who has never played a round of golf, Nigel played the equivalent of at least 90 in a single day.  Why???
Several reasons actually:

We wanted to raise awareness and money for the Folds of Honor foundation.  Folds of Honor raises money for scholarships for families of military personnel killed or seriously wounded in the service of our country.  As Nigel said to these folks “What I did today was NOTHING in comparison to what you guys do.”.

2.     We also wanted to show the durability of the Golf Center Training System.  The Golf Center worked flawlessly all day – we never had to recharge nor did it fail to delivery… not even one ball.  The training program that Nigel used helped him deliver his shots within the tight window.

3.     Records are truly made to be broken.  And this one was.

Media coverage included the Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, The Golf Channel, Golf Digest,ESPNGolf Week, radio in Ireland, and many independent blogs and media agents.Golf Professionals, Instructors, Range owners, and individual golfers from around the world became aware of and recognized the benefits of the Golf Center for themselves and their customers.  Our time at the PGA Expo in Orlando was well spent and incredibly beneficial for the brand and business development efforts for Egan Golf.
